ABOUT US

Mental health issues can take on many forms. For some it is depression. For others it may be anxiety, ADHD, trauma, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, OCD, or other symptoms that affect one’s mood, thinking, or behavior. According to various organizations, as many as one in five American adults struggle with mental health problems. Yet many do not seek the help they need due to the stigma associated with mental illness, concern about costs, or other reasons.
Welcome to Interborough Development and Consultation Center or IDCC. Our dedicated doctors, therapists and mental health professionals understand that mental illness is a true illness that must be treated. And with over thirty years of successful treatment and outcomes, our mental health professionals truly understand how to work with mental health patients of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds.
What makes IDCC different? We start with truly listening to our patients. By taking the time and effort to understand our patients, our mental health professionals can work with each individual on their own level, providing each one the treatment and care specifically designed for their personal life and the environment they live in.
IDCC is about innovation. Whether it is the integration of nutritionists and diet into treatment, the use of special equipment such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation to help depression, or our world-class Care Managers which support a holistic approach to an individual’s recovery by acting as a resource to coordinate life activities such as helping patients with housing, employment, social relationships and community, IDCC understands that just as each individual is different, their treatment must also be looked at differently.
Experience the IDCC difference and help yourself or a loved one live a happy life once more. Medicaid, Medicare and most major insurances accepted.

OUR HISTORY
Dr. Leon Gersten, founder of IDCC, grew up in Frysztak, Poland in the early 1940’s. As a young child Dr. Gersten experienced the dark side of humanity as he went through the horrors of World War Two and the Holocaust. Yet he also saw the very best of humanity as kind neighbors risked their lives to save him and his family from Nazis.
Inspired by the actions of his courageous neighbors, Dr. Gersten dedicated his life to helping others in need by starting Interborough Developmental and Consultation Center (IDCC) as a nonprofit facility as a way to give back to the community. Sixty years later, IDCC still follows this mission to help those in need by providing services for children and adults to help them overcome their own personal obstacles and challenges as they seek to live healthier and happier lives.
IDCC adheres to the highest standard of care and confidentiality, while listening to each patient’s needs through our highly qualified and professional staff of doctors and therapists who use the latest research and technology to provide individuals and families the support they need to move forward.
